GOLDEN HASH BROWNS

AMERICAN STYLE


Preparation Time: 40-50 Minutes
You Need: (To Serve 4 People)
Ingredients

Potatoes 6 medium sized Russet Potatoes are the preferred potatoes for Hash browns.
Black Pepper Powder  1 tsp
Salt To taste
Olive Oil 2-3 tbsp

Method:
  • Coarsely shred potatoes lengthwise.
  • To remove the moistness from potatoes, place the shred potatoes on paper towels, wrap and press hard. Repeat this for 3-4 times to thoroughly remove the moistness from the potatoes.


  • In a bowl, add pepper powder and salt to the shred potatoes and mix well.
  • Grease a pan/tava with Olive oil and Heat it. When the pan is hot enough spread the shred potatoes by hand evenly and with a turner fix the sides to give a good round shape.
  • Leave the potatoes to cook for 10 - 15 minutes on a medium flame/heat. Do not cover the pan with a lid.
  • Once the bottom turns slight golden brown, carefully turn over the potatoes. Put few drops of Olive oil on edge and cook this side as well for 15 minutes on a medium flame/heat. When this side also turns slight golden brown, remove the hash browns to paper napkins. Serve hot :)
