Potatoes | 6 medium sized | Russet Potatoes are the preferred potatoes for Hash browns. |
Black Pepper Powder | 1 tsp | |
Salt | To taste | |
Olive Oil | 2-3 tbsp | |
Method:
- Coarsely shred potatoes lengthwise.
- To remove the moistness from potatoes, place the shred potatoes on paper towels, wrap and press hard. Repeat this for 3-4 times to thoroughly remove the moistness from the potatoes.
- In a bowl, add pepper powder and salt to the shred potatoes and mix well.
- Grease a pan/tava with Olive oil and Heat it. When the pan is hot enough spread the shred potatoes by hand evenly and with a turner fix the sides to give a good round shape.
- Leave the potatoes to cook for 10 - 15 minutes on a medium flame/heat. Do not cover the pan with a lid.
- Once the bottom turns slight golden brown, carefully turn over the potatoes. Put few drops of Olive oil on edge and cook this side as well for 15 minutes on a medium flame/heat. When this side also turns slight golden brown, remove the hash browns to paper napkins. Serve hot :)
